"And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone." (1 Thessalonians 5:14)
When we are idle we are focused on ourselves and we are not moving forward in a spirit of love and charity. When idle we open our hearts and minds to allowing Satan to play mind games with us. He tries to convince us that we are perfectly fine doing nothing and that we need not do things in service to others which of course is a lie.
If we are disruptive we believe what we think is right is THE WAY to resolve an issue, behave in a given situation, or get something done. We can be arrogant in how we think and behave. When being disruptive we are being driven by pride and we are most definitely not moving in God's Spirit. When we are disruptive we stir up anger, confusion, frustration, unrest. All these things cause conflict and hurt.
God calls all of us to move forward in charity. To allow Him to lead us and guide us in our lives. He calls us to be sources of love, hope, and encouragement for others. He calls us to be His presence in the world, to be kind, patient, peaceful and joyous - to live and move in His Spirit.
Prayer:
Lord, I am sorry for the times when I have been idle or disruptive. I do not want to walk in arrogance and pride. Instead, I want to be a source of love, hope and encouragement to others. Help me be the most loving person I can be. Amen.
