Envious?

“Are you envious because I am generous?” (Matthew 20:15)
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I want to scream, “Heck, yeah! I’m a good person.  Why don’t I have incredible financial or material blessings like they do?”
But isn’t that exactly what Satan wants me to be - envious?  He wants me to be jealous of how God has blessed others instead of focusing on how profoundly He has blessed me.  Because if I’m caught up in a cycle of envy I’m stepping away from God’s grace and allowing Satan to play games with my heart and mind.
Instead of getting caught up in what I don’t have, in a web of envy, I need to be grateful for how God has blessed others and how He has blessed me.  I need to be grateful and happy for all that I do have not envious of what I don’t have.  If I just stop the thoughts, ask forgiveness, and pray for the grace to be grateful, God will bless me with a grateful and happy heart.  And isn’t that what God wants me to have - a happy, grateful heart focused on how wonderfully He has blessed all His children?
