Loving the Difficult

"Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself." (Leviticus 19:18)

We are all called to love one another.  If we are loving we accept, forgive, and patiently bear with one another's faults, weaknesses and unkindness. We do not harbor any ill-will in our hearts towards others or wish ill upon them.  Instead, in Love, we are able to find the goodness that lies within those who hurt or mistreat us or those we care for.

We are to love, to love all, especially those who are difficult,  unkind, selfish, malicious, or hurtful in any way.  We are to be a blessing to them. We are called to extend love to them in a way that is not intrusive, but is gentle, accepting, and compassionate.  To love those who seem unlovable is possible with prayer, submission to God, and love. With God's help and grace we can be a blessing to those we may consider our enemies and be loving towards those who hate us.

Prayer:

Lord, I do not want to harbor any ill-will in my heart or desire that anything bad happen to anyone.  Help me to embrace the love You pour out on me and share that with everyone I encounter.  Help me to love those who are difficult and be a blessing to them.  May I have eyes that see Your presence in everyone.  Amen.
