Be Patient

"A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel." (Proverbs 15:18)

Impatient, hot-tempered people do indeed stir up trouble.  In a moment of anger they can cause conflict and pain.  They can selfishly lash out at others seeking that which will satisfy their anger.  Unfortunately, nothing can and they end up alienating others and causing friction.

The patient person quietly waits for the hot-tempered one to stop lashing out and then tries, with love, to soothe those who have been upset and smooth out the situation that has become stressful.  The patient person gently speaks to all involved and does all he or she can to create peace out of havoc.

If we are the hot-tempered one we will find ourselves alone and lonely, full of anger and anxiety.  If we are the patient one, God will bless us with calm hearts and minds and He will draw others to Himself through us.  May we be patient bearers of peace and love.

Prayer:

Lord, bless me with Your Spirit of peace.  Help me to always be patient and bear with others as You bear with me.  May I draw people to Your love by my actions.  Amen.
